The two main medical applications we use at the School of Medicine, Epocrates and Unbound, are now available on the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

Epocrates

To get the full version of Epocrates, you will need to register with Epocrates (see http://pda.louisville.edu/tutorials/epocrates/Epocrates_Registrationl.docx/view).  Once you have completed registration:

1.  Go to the App store.

2.  Select Medical, and search for "Epocrates"

3.  Select "Install"  The program will download, then request the user name and passwor you created during registration.

4.  Follow the directions.

Unbound

Unbound Medicine has just released a new version for iPhone and iPod touch users. Download today to take advantage of this free resource!

On the iPhone/iPod touch with a wireless connection through your institution's network

1.  Contact Brent Mehring, Office of academic technology for a registration number (Call 852-2899)

2.  Go to the App store on your device.

3.  Search for "Unbound" and tap Unbound Medicine, Inc.

4.  Select uCentral, tap Free, then tap Install

4.  You will be asked to login to the App Store (using your iTunes password)

5.  uCentral will then install to your device.

6.  Once installed, tap Learn More/Support

7.  Tap Register Now , sue the number obtained in step 1

8.  Follow the directions

GroupWise

The iPhone can be configured to recieve Groupwise Email.  See Brent Merhing in the Ofice of Academic Technology for configuration information.

There is a new app for the iphone that used in conjuction with a website, will allow true 2 way sync of contacts, calendar and tasks in addition to email with GroupWise. Here are the details:

Go to the App store and search for "synthesis"

There is a $15 1 time cost for an App called "Todo+Cal".  This app syncs with:

GroupWisesync.com.  The interface is free for email and 30 days of calendar.  To synch and annual calendar, contacts, and tasks, requires a premium subscription for  $45 per year.. This syncs with Groupwise on port 7112

This synch is not real time, you will need to actively sync or can set to timed pulls, as often as every 15 minutes.
